Hunza Apricot Blossom Tour begins in Gilgit, the capital of this picturesque region. As you arrive in Gilgit during spring, you’ll feel an immediate connection to this season of renewal. A must-visit spot near Gilgit is the Bagrot Valley, located just an hour’s drive away. The valley is renowned for its panoramic views, which are particularly enchanting during spring and summer. Another gem is the Kargah Buddha, nestled in the tiny Kargah valley, a mere 20-minute drive from the city. The Buddha, intricately carved into a rock, stands about 10 meters from the pathway, an awe-inspiring sight for all visitors.
Proceeding further north, you’ll reach the famous Hunza Valley, a land that exudes unparalleled beauty. Karimabad, the main town of Hunza, is located approximately 90 km away and can be reached in about 3 hours. However, be prepared to make frequent stops to admire the breathtaking viewpoints along the way, as they might extend your journey time. Once you arrive in Hunza, you’ll find it hard to leave. To add more enchantment to your journey, venture into Upper Hunza. Travel to the Khunjarab Pass, the highest border crossing connecting China and Pakistan at an impressive elevation of 4737m. The journey back from the Khunjerab Pass will be equally mesmerizing, as you soak in the surrounding beauty. If time permits, allocate a day to visit the nearby Nagar Valley, situated opposite Hunza Valley. Drive along the KKH, and you’ll arrive at the Hoper Glacier. Upon arrival in Islamabad, you’ll be warmly welcomed by our company representative and transferred to your hotel. Take some time to rest and refresh before embarking on a city tour of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Rawalpindi, a vibrant city with bustling streets and colorful bazaars, offers an authentic taste of Pakistan’s culture. Meanwhile, Islamabad, the well-planned capital of Pakistan, sits amidst lush greenery at the foothills of the Potohar hills. During the tour, you’ll visit iconic places such as the Faisal Mosque, Shakarparian Gardens, Lok Versa (Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage), and more. In the evening, return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
After a hearty breakfast at the hotel in Islamabad, we’ll begin our journey to Taxila, where you’ll visit the Taxila Museum and historical sites. Continuing our drive, we’ll head towards Besham, covering a distance of 267 km in approximately four hours if made it directly. Enjoy a picturesque drive and stop for a visit to Taxila Museum and a delicious lunch on the way which obviously takes longer than four hours. Overnight stay at a hotel in Besham.
Following breakfast at the hotel in Besham, get ready for an exciting drive via the Karakoram Highway to Gilgit. This 391 km stretch of road is not only thrilling but also a remarkable engineering feat, known as the world’s highest metalled border crossing. The highway connects Pakistan and China, stretching over 1300 km between Islamabad and Kashgar. On the way, we’ll stop at Chilas for lunch. Overnight stay at a hotel in Gilgit.
Start your day with breakfast at the hotel in Gilgit before heading to Bagrot Valley. A short, two-hour jeep ride will take you to this scenic valley. Enjoy a tea break at a local guesthouse and embark on a hike to Bagrot Glacier, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. After lunch at the guesthouse, we’ll return to Gilgit and explore the local bazaar. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel in Gilgit.
After breakfast, we’ll visit Kargah, a small valley 15 km southwest of Gilgit, known for its impressive rock carvings of Lord Buddha. From there, we’ll proceed to Karimabad, covering a distance of 70 km in about one and a half hours. En route, we’ll stop at Rakaposhi 7788m Viewpoint to enjoy a cup of tea while soaking in the stunning views. Upon reaching Karimabad, enjoy dinner and spend the night at a hotel.
Early in the morning, we’ll drive to Duiker to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the magnificent mountains, including Rakaposhi Peak, Diran Peak, Ultra Peak, Golden Peak, and Ladyfinger Peak. After breakfast at the Eagle Nest Hotel in Duiker, offering panoramic views of Hunza and Nagar Valley, we’ll proceed to Altit Village to explore the over 900-year-old Altit Fort. Next, we’ll walk to Karimabad and visit the more than 700-year-old Baltit Fort. After lunch at a local restaurant, you’ll have some time to rest. In the evening, visit the local bazaar in Karimabad before spending the night at a hotel.
After breakfast, we’ll embark on an adventurous drive to Khunjerab Pass, the famous Pakistan-China border situated at an altitude of 4737m. The Khunjerab Pass is an engineering marvel and an all-weather entry point from Pakistan to China’s Xinjiang Province. Enjoy a packed lunch at Khunjerab Pass before driving back to Gulmit for an overnight stay.
Following breakfast at the hotel, we’ll drive to Borith Lake, a beautiful lake situated amidst the charming Borith village. Take a leisurely walk and hike around the lake while enjoying the stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Relish a delightful lunch with the lake’s picturesque backdrop before returning to Gulmit for dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast, we’ll drive to Hopper Valley and embark on a hike to Hopper Glacier. Enjoy a delicious lunch in Hopper before proceeding to Karimabad, where you’ll check into your hotel. In the afternoon, explore the local bazaar and indulge in a dinner at a local restaurant. Spend the night at the hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, visit the Hunza Carpet House to witness the skilled craftsmanship of local women and men creating intricate carpets. Explore some old traditional houses and immerse yourself in the unique culture of Hunzakuts. After lunch, drive back to Gilgit, a journey of 1-2 hours. Check into the hotel, enjoy dinner, and spend the night.
Today, we’ll drive back to Besham via the Karakoram Highway, a journey covering 331 km and taking approximately 8-9 hours. Enjoy lunch at Dassu and continue the drive to Besham. Overnight stay at a hotel in Besham.
After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll make our way back to Islamabad, covering a distance of 267 km in about four hours. Upon arrival in Islamabad, check in at a hotel, enjoy lunch, and explore the market. Proceed for the night stay at a hotel.
After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the Islamabad International Airport for your onward journey. This marks the end of our memorable and enchanting expedition through the northern regions of Pakistan.
