Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Islamabad

Upon arriving in Islamabad, meet your guide, who will be your companion throughout the expedition. Transfer to the hotel and spend the afternoon exploring the sights of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Immerse yourself in Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage by visiting the Institute of Folk Heritage. Enjoy a delightful lunch with a scenic view of the city. Return to the hotel for dinner and spend the night.

Day 2From Islamabad to Besham

After breakfast, depart from Rawalpindi to Besham, a 265km drive that will take approximately 6-7 hours. Along the way, don’t miss the opportunity to visit the Taxila Museum and have a delicious lunch in Abbottabad. Upon arrival in Besham, settle into your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3Besham to Karimabad

Kickstart your day with an early breakfast before embarking on a picturesque drive via the legendary Karakoram Highway to Karimabad. This 385km journey will take around 9-10 hours, and it’s a feast for the eyes. Enjoy a rejuvenating lunch in Chilas before continuing your drive to Karimabad, where you’ll spend the night at a hotel.

Day 4Witnessing the Stunning Sunrise

Rise early to witness the stunning sunrise from Duiker, where you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of Rakaposhi Peak, Diran Peak, Golden Peak, Ultar Peak, and more. Enjoy a delicious breakfast at Eagle Nest Hotel in Duiker before visiting the 900-year-old Altit Fort and the ancient Baltit Fort. Immerse yourself in the local culture of Hunza and have lunch at a local restaurant. Return to the hotel in Karimabad for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5Journey to Shimshal

After breakfast in Karimabad, embark on a thrilling drive towards Shimshal, one of the most remote areas of the Hunza Valley. Shimshal, nestled near the Chinese border, offers captivating landscapes and takes approximately 3 hours to reach from the Karakoram Highway. Upon arrival in Shimshal, settle into your campsite, have dinner, and spend the night in the midst of nature.

Day 6Trekking to Furzin - 3360m

Start your day with breakfast at the Shimshal camp before beginning your trek to Furzin. The journey will take you through charming villages like Bandsar and Pamirthung, offering picturesque views along the way. After a fulfilling lunch at Garsar, continue your trek to Furzin, where you’ll set up camp for the night.

Day 7Furzin to Arbab Pariyan

Enjoy a hearty breakfast at the camp in Furzin before embarking on a 7-8 hour trek to Arbab Pariyan. Traverse challenging terrains, cross Chichan suspension bridges, and relish the splendid views of the surrounding peaks. Set up camp at Arbab Pariyan for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 8 Arbab Pariyan to Shuijerab - 4350m

Start your day with breakfast at the camp before commencing a 5-6 hour trek to Shuijerab. Shuijerab serves as a summer settlement for the Shimshalis and offers a unique opportunity to witness the traditional nomadic lifestyle. Set up camp at Shuijerab and enjoy dinner amidst the serene landscapes.

Day 9Trek to Shimshal Pass - 4745m

After breakfast at the camp in Shuijerab, embark on a strenuous trek to Shimshal Pass. The challenging ascent rewards you with breathtaking views and takes you through lush green meadows. Set up camp near the beautiful lakes of Lupwhooyee and Zaklayee, where you will spend the night.

Day 10 - 12Acclimatization and Climbing

These three days are dedicated to acclimatization and the ultimate climb to conquer the majestic Manglik Sar. Ascend the summit by starting as early as 02:30 am, taking approximately 9-10 hours, and savor the panoramic views of K2, Yashkun Garden, Baraldu Valley, Mustagh Ranges, Pamir, and Kanjut Sar. Return to the base camp each day for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 13Trek Back to Shuijerab - 4350m

After breakfast at the base camp, begin your descent towards Shuijerab. The trek takes approximately 4-5 hours, allowing you to soak in the beauty of the surroundings. Set up camp at Shuijerab for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 14Trek to Arbab Pariyan - 3925m

Start your day with breakfast at the camp before trekking back to Arbab Pariyan. The 4-5 hour walk takes you through diverse landscapes and offers stunning vistas. Set up camp at Arbab Pariyan for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 15Trek to Furzin - 3360m

After breakfast at the camp, trek back to Furzin, enjoying the scenic beauty of the region. The 4-5 hour trek takes you through some of the most enchanting landscapes. Set up camp at Furzin for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 16Furzin to Shimshal - 3100m

Enjoy breakfast at the Furzin camp before descending back to Shimshal. Spend the afternoon exploring the charming Shimshal Village and immersing yourself in the local culture. Set up camp in Shimshal for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 17Drive to Gilgit

After breakfast at the camp in Shimshal, embark on a scenic drive to Gilgit. Enjoy lunch at the Rakaposhi viewpoint and revel in the breathtaking scenery. The 6-7 hour drive takes you to Gilgit, where you will transfer to a hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 18Gilgit to Besham

Start your day with breakfast in Gilgit before driving back to Besham, covering a distance of 330km in approximately 9-10 hours. Along the way, make a photo stop at Rock Carving Chilas and Shatiyal. Enjoy lunch in Dassu and arrive in Besham for dinner and an overnight stay at a hotel.

Day 19Besham to Islamabad

After breakfast in Besham, begin your journey back to Islamabad, approximately a 6-7 hour drive. Upon arrival in Islamabad, transfer to a hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. Spend the evening exploring the city and indulging in some shopping.

Day 20Departure from Islamabad

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before being transferred to Islamabad Airport for your return flight home. Bid farewell to Pakistan, taking with you cherished memories of the magnificent Manglik Sar expedition and the wonders of Shimshal Valley. End of services.
